• <br />• <br />SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING AUGUST 11, 1997 <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />MINUTES <br />DATE August 11, 1997 <br />TIME STARTED 6:00 p.m. <br />TIME ENDED 6:25 p.m. <br />MEMBERS PRESENT Council Members Bergeson, Kuether, Lyden <br />and Neal and Mayor Landers <br />MEMBERS ABSENT None <br />Staff members present: Solid Waste Coordinator, Jackie Constant and Clerk -Treasurer <br />Marilyn Anderson. <br />The purpose of the special meeting was to update the Council regarding the <br />implementation of the Organized Solid Waste ordinance. <br />Ms. Constant explained that she has been meeting with the consult <br />informational materials explaining the Organized Solid Waste <br />scheduled to be placed on the November election ballot. <br />are public <br />h is <br />Council discussed various ways to inform the r s the oposal for organized <br />collection. Council decided the notices in the Quad Press and the <br />ld place the facts in every home. <br />Ms. Constant noted that she has met with the persons petitioning against the Organized <br />Solid Waste Collection ordinance. She feels that they are misinformed and some of the <br />misinformation is coming from the haulers. Council suggested one of the mailings should <br />respond to the misinformation only. The fall City newsletter could also provide more <br />information to the residents. <br />Staff was directed to place inserts and articles in the Quad Press to provide factual <br />information for the residents. A direct mailing is to be done about a week or so before the <br />November election. Mayor Landers suggested that something be done for Cable TV <br />presentation. <br />PAGE 1 <br />
