• <br />• <br />• <br />TRUTH IN TAXATION HEARING DECEMBER 4, 1997 <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />MINUTES <br />DATE December 4, 1997 <br />TIME STARTED 6:13 p.m. <br />TIME ENDED 6:47 p.m. <br />MEMBERS PRESENT Council Members Bergeson, Kuether, Neal <br />and Mayor Landers <br />MEMBERS ABSENT •Council Member Lyden <br />Staff members present: City Administrator, Randy Schumacher; Finance Director, Mary <br />Vaske and Clerk -Treasurer Marilyn Anderson. <br />The purpose of the special meeting was to conduct the Truth in Taxation hearing. <br />Mayor Landers welcomed the audience to the meeting and outline edure for this <br />public hearing. <br />Mr. Schumacher explained that this public hearing is req e S Taw and provided <br />background information about this specific type of <br />Ms. Vaske presented the proposed 1998 Gene •udget. She explained what tax <br />capacity means and used a graph to sh • lars collected from property taxes <br />are used. Ms. Vaske also presentee'"': o where tax dollars were spent in the <br />previous nine (9) years. <br />Ms. Vaske presented a • ' •e 1998 projected revenues and a summary of the <br />1998 projected ex <br />Mr. John Houle, M n Lee and Mr. Charles Geisler were present in the audience. <br />Mr. Geisler, a reside of the Clearwater Creek development asked what the <br />Environmental Committee tasks are. He was told that their first project will be to <br />complete an environmental inventory for the entire City. Other duties will include <br />reviewing development proposals as they pertain to the impact on the environment. <br />Mr. Geisler, another resident in the Clearwater Creek development, asked if there is a <br />forecast of street reconstruction or maintenance. He was particularly interested in <br />knowing when the Clearwater Creek streets and trails will be completed. Mr. Schumacher <br />explained the process. <br />Mr. Geisler asked if it is illegal for the City to make interfund loans. Ms. Vaske explained <br />that it is legal and the City saves a great deal of money by borrowing from its own funds. <br />PAGE 1 <br />
