An architect and a general contractor
should be hired as soon as possible. A design for the building based on the department
needs should be completed by July.
Council discussed whether the Police Department building should be a "free-standing"
building or part of a complex. The general consensus was that a complex would better
promote community. Other uses considered for this complex was a new city hall, a
building to be leased by the Centennial School District and possibly something for Anoka
County.
Mr. Wessel will prepare an implementation procedure including hiring a construction
manager and requesting bids. The procedure is on the March 24, 1997 Council agenda.
PAGE 1
