COUNCIL WORK SESSION MARCH 19, 1997 <br />Staff was directed to schedule neighborhood meetings and set the public hearing for the <br />project. Council asked that staff prepare a per year assessment figure for the affected <br />property owners. <br />A resolution setting the public hearing was added to the March 24th agenda. <br />NIGHT RECORDING, UTILITY EMERGENCIES, DAVID AHRENS <br />Mr. Ahrens explained that back-up controls for the water tower on Apollo Drive are <br />installed and will be tested tomorrow. Recently an emergency occurred at this tower on a <br />weekend. Residents affected by the emergency tried to alert the City but were unable to <br />reach anyone. Ms. Jean Viger, secretary for the Public Works Department, Mr. DeWolfe <br />and Mr. Ahrens have now prepared a plan to be used in similar situations. The plan <br />outlines who gets the emergency call and what is to be done so that the public will know <br />that a problem has been reported and is in the process of being resolved. <br />COUNCIL COMPENSATION, RANDY SCHUMACHER <br />Mr. Schumacher distributed a Council salary increase pro r s r includes a <br />cost of living increase. Council suggested that Coun et 4) meetings each <br />month. The four (4) meetings are the two (2) reme ngs and the two (2) <br />regular work sessions. If a Council memb of eyM work sessions, the salary <br />for that meeting is deducted. <br />This matter will be on a fu <br />REGULAR AG <br />Agenda Item 11 ppointments - Mr. Schumacher outlined the proposed <br />appointments sch-; le. He suggested that Mr. Pat Huleman be appointed to the Friends <br />of the Parks Foundation board. <br />Council Member Kuether suggested posting signs in new subdivisions where new parks <br />and trails will be developed. This would eliminate citizen concerns when park or trail <br />development occurs. <br />This matter was referred to the Park Board. <br />The meeting was adjourned at 9:37 p.m. <br />These minutes were considered, corrected and approved at a regular meeting held on May <br />24, 1999. <br />PAGE 6 <br />
