COUNCIL WORK SESSION APRIL 9,1997 <br />suggested that the entire City Council attend the training session. Staff noted the training <br />could be held at the city hall, however, there would be an extra charge. <br />Staff was directed to contact Sandie Wood to see if she would be interested in the <br />position. If she is, staff will prepare a recommendation for Council consideration <br />including the term for the position. <br />This matter will be on the April 14th Council agenda. <br />PROPOSED ORDINANCE AMENDMENT FOR COUNCIL COMPENSATION <br />MARILYN ANDERSON <br />At a previous work session, Council discussed updating Council salaries and directed <br />staff to determine if there was a legal method of adjusting salaries using the Cost of <br />Living Index. Staff prepared Ordinance No. 07 - 97 outlining specific annual salary <br />adjustments for the years of 1999 through 2002. The City Attorney reviewed this <br />ordinance and found no problems. <br />Ordinance No. 07 - 97 is on the April 14th Council agenda. <br />CENTENNIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT EARLY C <br />RANDY SCHUMACHER <br />The School District is in need of app y: 1 "I I' square feet of space for their early <br />childhood program. Staff hasp • . �_�' w proposal: <br />- City will construct a e Town Center next to the Police Department <br />- City will enter 3_ • a le agreement with the School District <br />- The School Di ayments would pay for the building in 10 years <br />- If the City need. ce at the of the 10 year contract, the City will not renew the <br />contract <br />The Council will take this proposal under advisement and will discuss it at another work <br />session. <br />CITY STAFF ATTENDANCE AT CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS, ANDY NEAL <br />Council Member Neal proposed that another table be brought to the Council chambers for <br />seating purposes and require that all staff members attend the regular Council meetings. <br />Mayor Landers was not supportive of this proposal. He felt only staff members who have <br />items on the agenda should attend. Council Member Neal explained that sometimes <br />questions come up on agenda items and nobody seems to know the answers. He felt that <br />if all staff were present, this would not happen. <br />PAGE 6 <br />
