Staff recommends the Council approve a proclamation declaring May as Arbor <br />Month. <br />Council Member Lyden moved to approve the Arbor Month Proclamation. Council Member <br />Kuether seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />The Arbor Month Proclamation can be found at the end of these minutes. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Consideration of Appointment of Pat Huleman to the Friends of the Parks Foundation - <br />Mayor Landers explained the appointment of Pat Huleman to the Friends of the Parks <br />Foundation was delayed to allow time for the Foundation to interview him. This interview has <br />been completed and a letter of appointment confirmation sent to Pat Huleman. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Consideration of Addendum to the LLMA Contract - Mr. Schumacher reported a petition <br />was received from the Lino Lakes Management Association to add the Park and Recreation, and <br />Police Department Office Manager to their bargaining unit as supervisory employees. Their <br />salary and benefits will not be collectively bargained until the end of the current contract <br />(December 31, 1998). He advised that due to the nature of his employment, the Public Works <br />Superintendent has also requested the Council consider a take-home vehicle policy for his <br />position. He recommended adoption of the proposed addendum. <br />Council Member Neal moved to approve Appendix F, Addendum to the LLMA Contract. <br />Council Member Kuether seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Consideration of Sending a Donation to East Grand Forks, Minnesota - It was noted the <br />City Attorney has indicated consideration of this type of donation is allowable. <br />Council Member Neal reported on the various cities which are making similar contributions. He <br />recommended a donation of $5,000 be considered. <br />Council Member Kuether commented on the number of donations that have already recently <br />been made and suggested that it is not possible to help everyone with tax dollars. <br />Mr. Schumacher advised Anoka County Emergency Services is in the process of coordinating a <br />program for municipalities and organizations within the County to participate in providing a <br />variety of assistance. <br />Council Member Kuether stated her preference to participate through that program. <br />Council Member Neal stated he would like Lino Lakes to be the first to contribute, which will <br />draw positive recognition towards the City. <br />PAGE 18 <br />
