• <br />• <br />COUNCIL MINUTES JANUARY 12, 1998 <br />No one appeared under Open Mike. <br />CONSIDERATION OF APPOINTMENTS, DAN TESCH <br />Mr. Tesch explained that one of Council's first official acts each year is to review and approve <br />annual appointments. He explained that at this time initial appointments will be presented for <br />consideration, and that the balance of the necessary appointments would be considered following <br />additional input. In the interim, 90 -day extension letters will be forwarded to all appointed City <br />board members whose terms expired in December of 1997. Included in this process will be <br />members of the Environmental Advisory Committee, who provided by-laws for Council's <br />consideration. <br />The following appointments were then presented for Council's consideration: <br />North Metro Telecommunication Commission Director, Chris Lyden <br />North Metro Telecommunication Commission Alternate, Dan Tesch <br />Acting Mayor, Chris Lyden <br />Assessor, Anoka County <br />Fiscal Agent, Springsted, Inc. <br />Legal Depositories - Norwest Bank, First Bank NA, Firstar Bank, Merrill Lynch, Dain Bosworth, <br />Juran & Moody, and Prudential Bache. <br />800 Megahertz Committee Staff, Milo Bennett <br />800 Megahertz Committee elected official, Caroline Dahl <br />According to Mr. Tesch, the recommendation is to abolish the Capital Building Committee, as <br />tasks formerly performed by this group are now incorporated into the duties of others. <br />Staffs recommendation is to proceed with the aforementioned appointments, and that the <br />following tasks be completed: <br />• Letters sent to board members whose terms expired in December to inform them of 90 - <br />day extensions to their service - P&Z, Park Board, EAC, EDAAB <br />• A timetable for remaining appointments be reviewed at the January 21 Council work <br />session <br />• Mayor Sullivan and Mr. Tesch prepare a rating form for applicants to remaining board <br />appointments <br />• By-laws for the EAC be discussed at the January 21 Council work session <br />Mr. Howard Lestrud, General Manager of the Forest Lake Times addressed Council, stating that <br />the Times has been in existence since 1903 and has provided comprehensive news coverage of <br />
