COUNCIL MINUTES FEBRUARY 23, 1998 <br />Comprehensive Plan Meeting, Thursday, February 26, 1998, 6:00 p.m. <br />Park Board Meeting, Monday, March 2, 1998, 6:30 p.m. <br />Trails Committee Meeting, Tuesday, March 3, 1998, 7:00 p.m., Parks and Recreation <br />Building <br />Council Work Session, Wednesday, March 4, 1998, 5:30 p.m. <br />EDAAB Meeting, Thursday, March 4, 1998, 7:00 p.m. <br />Comprehensive Plan Meeting, Thursday, March 5, 1998, 6:00 p.m. <br />EDA Meeting, Monday, March 9, 1998, 6:00 p.m. <br />Mayor Sullivan announced a special Council meeting scheduled to take place on Wednesday, <br />February 25 at 5:30 p.m., for the purpose of meeting with consultants regarding the City <br />Administrator search. <br />Additionally, Mayor Sullivan announced that on March 7, 1998, at 9:00 a.m., interviews with <br />potential Board members, followed immediately by a Council goal -setting meeting. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Office Lease Agreement, Tschida Excavating - Chief Pecchia explained that the office lease <br />agreement for the City's Environmental Department at Acton Construction expires on February <br />28, 1998. He stated that a search was conducted for new office space, with Tschida Excavating <br />selected to serve this purpose. The cost for lease of office space from Tschida Excavating would <br />be $200 per month. The agreement has been reviewed by the City Attorney. <br />Mayor Sullivan asked if the Environmental Department has sufficient funds to accommodate this <br />rental fee. Chief Pecchia indicated that the Department will find funds within its budget for <br />office rental. <br />Council Member Neal moved to approve the lease agreement allowing for the City's <br />Environmental Department to lease office space from Tschida Excavating, Inc. Council Member <br />Dahl seconded the motion. Motion carried, with Council Member Bergeson abstaining. <br />Open Meeting Law - Council Member Bergeson explained that recently Council was invited to <br />attend a Comprehensive Plan Task Force meeting. This meeting was again mentioned at a <br />Council work session. Question subsequently arose as to whether or not this process constituted <br />violation of the open meeting law. There was telephone communication from two separate <br />sources, one stating that there was a violation and the other that there was not. <br />18 <br />
