COUNCIL MINUTES April 27, 1998 <br />Mr. Ahrens explained the existing corrugated metal culvert under West Shadow Lake <br />Drive is deteriorating and causing problems with the road surface. The City has made <br />several repairs of the road surface. A decision was made to replace the culvert with a <br />concrete arch pipe. <br />The West Shadow Lake Drive culvert replacement project is scheduled as follows: <br />Advertise to Receive Bids <br />Receive Bids <br />Award Contract <br />Preconstruction Meeting <br />Construction Begins <br />Estimated Construction Completion <br />April 28, 1998 <br />May 20, 1998 <br />May 26, 1998 <br />June 1, 1998 <br />June 3, 1998 <br />June 30, 1998 <br />Mr. Ahrens added that the City will pay for the project using Surface Water Management <br />Funds. <br />Staff recommends that Resolution No. 98 - 60 be adopted. <br />Mr. Ahrens noted that the City would be giving advance notice to every resident in the <br />affected area about the project. <br />Council Member Neal stated that the area of the repairs could be very dangerous at night. <br />Mr. Ahrens indicated flashers would warn people. <br />Council Member Neal asked about the possibility of rain interrupting the repairs. Mr. <br />Ahrens indicated they hoped to have the street opened up for public use by 6:00 p.m. the <br />same day. <br />Council Member Bergeson asked for an estimate on the cost of the project. Mr. Ahrens <br />guessed the repairs to cost approximately $25,000 - $50,000. <br />Acting Mayor Lyden asked how Staff would make the public aware of the construction. <br />Mr. Ahrens stated the public would be informed on two (2) separate occasions. The first <br />being right after the construction meeting with the contractor. The second notice would <br />be a couple days before construction started. <br />Council Member Bergeson asked how the project would affect the school buses, as they <br />use the street as a turnaround. Mr. Ahrens explained they have not yet addressed that <br />issue. It is possible the construction will not start until after the school year is completed. <br />Council Member Neal moved to adopt Resolution No. 98 - 60, as presented.
