• <br />CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION JULY 7,1999 <br />CONSIDER PARTICIPATION IN 6 -MONTH FEASIBILITY FOR QUAD CITY <br />POLICE SERVICES, LINDA WAITE SMITH <br />Ms. Waite Smith and Council Member Neal attended a meeting regarding a tri -city police <br />department, which would include the cities of Circle Pines, Lexington, and Centerville. <br />These cities are also interested in a quad city effort which would include Lino Lakes. A <br />summary of the meeting was distributed to Council Members earlier. <br />City representatives agreed to discuss this matter with their City Council and get an <br />indication of support for a feasibility study. <br />Mayor Sullivan indicated the Police Chief was not interested when this was discussed a <br />year ago. Ms. Waite Smith explained that these cities indicated they are not interested in a <br />contract situation. A feasibility study would review all other issues that would be <br />involved in a quad city department. <br />After further discussion the Council decided to obtain Chief Pecch. <br />making a decision. Mayor Sullivan <br />suggested the award be presented to Mr. Lyle Carpenter if he meets the criteria. Mr. <br />Carpenter has just retired from the VFW. <br />Council directed staff to obtain information regarding the Mayor's Award and include it <br />in the weekly update. <br />DISCUSS ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD ISSUES, MAYOR SULLIVAN <br />The Environmental Board discussed some issues at their last meeting that need to be <br />addressed. The first issue is the need for a minute taker. Ms. Waite Smith will contact <br />TimeSavers regarding a minute taker. <br />
