• CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION JULY 7,1999 CONSIDER PARTICIPATION IN 6 -MONTH FEASIBILITY FOR QUAD CITY POLICE SERVICES, LINDA WAITE SMITH Ms. Waite Smith and Council Member Neal attended a meeting regarding a tri -city police department, which would include the cities of Circle Pines, Lexington, and Centerville. These cities are also interested in a quad city effort which would include Lino Lakes. A summary of the meeting was distributed to Council Members earlier. City representatives agreed to discuss this matter with their City Council and get an indication of support for a feasibility study. Mayor Sullivan indicated the Police Chief was not interested when this was discussed a year ago. Ms. Waite Smith explained that these cities indicated they are not interested in a contract situation. A feasibility study would review all other issues that would be involved in a quad city department. After further discussion the Council decided to obtain Chief Pecch. making a decision. DISCUSSION OF YOR'S AWARD, MAYOR SULLIVAN A Mayor's Award is usually given each year to outstanding residents. Mayor Sullivan suggested the award be presented to Mr. Lyle Carpenter if he meets the criteria. Mr. Carpenter has just retired from the VFW. Council directed staff to obtain information regarding the Mayor's Award and include it in the weekly update. DISCUSS ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD ISSUES, MAYOR SULLIVAN The Environmental Board discussed some issues at their last meeting that need to be addressed. The first issue is the need for a minute taker. Ms. Waite Smith will contact TimeSavers regarding a minute taker.
