CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION JULY 21, 1999 <br />Council directed this item be pulled from the July 26th agenda. This item will appear on <br />the August 9th Council agenda. The following issues relating to this item will be <br />reviewed at the next work session: <br />1. Federal laws' <br />2. Impact on business owner. <br />3. Time to complete what was required by the applicant. <br />4. Tree removal on site. <br />CONSIDER PARTICIPATION IN SIX (6) -MONTH FEASIBILITY FOR QUAD <br />CITY POLICE SERVICES, LINDA WAITE SMITH/DAVE PECCHIA <br />Chief Pecchia referred to a discussion held at the last work session regarding a Quad City <br />Police Department. He felt that the Council must decide if it is wi - 've up control <br />of the Police Department. If the Council determines to partici • y, the <br />following issues should be reviewed: <br />1. Charter restrictions. <br />2. City Ordinance regarding the estab <br />3. Capital Funding issues. <br />4. Capital equipm <br />5. Countys system. <br />6. What tP g • icing is acceptable? <br />7. Funding formula. <br />8. Governing body. <br />f a police department. <br />Council noted that Circle Pines City Administrator, Jim Keinath may be doing the initial <br />study. The other three (3) participating cities have indicated that Centerville must have a <br />Council Member involved in the discussion, and that each participating City has one vote. <br />Each issue researched should also include cost analysis. A foundation of information will <br />be useful in the future. <br />The consensus of Council was to direct staff to determine how much the study would cost <br />and who would be doing the study. After review of this information, the Council will <br />determine whether or not to participate in the study. <br />4 <br />
