• <br />CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION AUGUST 18, 1999 <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />MINUTES <br />DATE : August 18, 1999 <br />TIME STARTED : 5:35 p.m. <br />TIME ENDED : 7:45 p.m. <br />MEMBERS PRESENT : Council Members Bergeson, Dahl, Neal, and <br />Mayor Sullivan <br />: Lyden <br />MEMBERS ABSENT <br />Staff members present: City Administrator, Linda Waite Smith; City Engineer, John <br />Powell; Community Development Director, Brian Wessel; Planning Coordinator, Mary <br />Kay Wyland (part); City Planner, Jeff Smyser (part); Chief of Police, Dave Pecchia (part); <br />and City Clerk Ry-Chel Gaustad <br />DISCUSS FUTURE DIRECTION OF CAG, JEFF RE <br />Mr. Jeff Reinert, Chair of the Citizens Advisory e e group has had <br />two (2) meetings in the past year with no dire « = +n o : , o ursue. The group is down <br />to four (4) members. The Council ref <= tter ; • m CAG regarding <br />accomplishments, goals, and con - + v. Chair recognized a need for the <br />group to identify with the citi < • h: ity. r. Reinert requested direction from the <br />the possibility of conducting a citizen survey. <br />Council regarding the <br />Council reiterate <br />and is to provide <br />in 1995. In the p this oversight was accomplished through annual reports of progress <br />and identification of action items contained within the report that had not been addressed <br />for the past 3 years. The reports have indicated that the City is on track with <br />implementation of the Vision. Last year's report also supported the Comprehensive Plan <br />as being in line with the Vision. <br />ssion of the Citizens Advisory Group was set by resolution <br />t o the implementation of the 20/20 Vision that was developed <br />There was some discussion about whether CAG has fulfilled its mission and could be <br />disbanded. Mr. Reinert's opinion was that there is still a valid role for CAG and that role <br />is to stay in touch with citizens. A survey would be a way to do that. <br />Council Members agreed that a survey related to implementation of the 20/20 vision <br />might be helpful. Noting that CAG currently has no budget, the Council suggested that <br />money be allocated in the budget for CAG's use in surveying and other activities. <br />• The City Administrator suggested that she meet with Mr. Reinert to discuss the focus of <br />the survey and the availability of staff assistance in designing the survey.
