CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION JANUARY 17, 2001 <br />Council Member Carlson asked if staff is considering the additional $125,000 as part of <br />the plan for the new park dedication fees. Staff advised there is no limit to the grant <br />application. The question is how much the City can commit to matching. <br />The City Administrator advised the grant is very competitive. A possible source of <br />funding to match the grant is the antenna lease revenue. The City has to be willing to <br />match the grant if it is awarded. <br />Council Member Carlson expressed concern that the City is asking for enough money in <br />the new park dedication ordinance. The City Administrator stated the new park <br />dedication ordinance and the matching grant money are two (2) separate issues. <br />Staff advised the new park dedication fees will address the needs to develop and maintain <br />current parks. The grant dollars are a separate issue. The worst case scenario is that the <br />Council directs the Park Board to designate the first $125,000 in park dedication fees to <br />pay the matching grant. <br />Council Member Reinert advised he is in support of the gra <br />Council Member O'Donnell stated he also supports r t a ation. Staff advised the grant <br />amount is based on the comfort level of what the City can commit to in the next two (2) <br />years. The grant will not be enough to cover the cost of complete development of the <br />park. <br />Mayor Bergeson inquired about the comfort level of the City Administrator and the <br />Finance Director relating to this issue. <br />The City Administrator advised this issue has been discussed and the Finance Director is <br />aware of the requirement to match the grant. <br />
