COUNCIL MINUTES JANUARY 14, 2002 <br />Councilmember Dahl wished to clarify that the former Mayor stated a preference for the Acting <br />Mayor and the City Council at that time had allowed this, but that doesn't make it right. <br />Mayor Bergeson called for a vote to appoint Councilmember Reinert as acting Mayor for 2002. <br />Mayor Bergeson voted aye. Councilmember Reinert voted aye. Councilmemer O'Donnell voted aye. <br />Councilmember Carlson voted nay. Councilmember Dahl voted nay. Motion passed on a 3-2 vote. <br />Councilmember Carlson moved to approve the Annual Appointments for 2002 of items two through <br />15 as presented in the staff report. Councilmember O'Donnell seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT REPORT, DAVE PEC+tHIA <br />Accept Donation to City of Lino Lakes of $1,000 from Sno-Barons for Snowmobile Equipment, <br />Dave Pecchia - Public Safety Director Pecchia introduced rq e es of the Sno-Barons <br />Snowmobile Association in attendance this evening. <br />Public Safety Director Pecchia advised the Police De <br />utilizing DWI/drug forfeiture funds to patrol the sn <br />Barons organization has graciously donated $1,00. <br />purchase appropriate clothing and equipment f t <br />t recently purchased a snowmobile <br />obiletrails within the community. The Sno- <br />City of Lino Lakes to offset the cost to <br />obile. <br />Public Safety Director Pecchia indicated t;; ent's current needs include snowmobile helmets, <br />snowmobile outfits that would allow ease ". cce to the officer's equipment belt, and emergency <br />equipment for the snowmobile itself. <br />Public Safety Director Pecchia reque� at the City Council accept the donation and publicly thank <br />the Snow -Barons organizati eir _ ous donation. <br />Mayor Bergeson noted the ame' ded agenda had also included the acceptance of a similar donation for <br />use by the Centennial Fire Distrix for Coldwater Rescue Equipment. He indicated this donation will <br />be accepted at a future meeting. <br />A Sno-Baron representative stated for 36 years the Sno-Barons have put on the largest snowmobile <br />event in the world in Columbus Township. He stated the organization has begun to use more of its <br />profits each year to put back into the community, such as monetary donations. He stated Sno-Barons <br />was proud to make this donation to the Lino Lakes Police Department because they believe in the <br />good job the Police Department is doing with snowmobile protection. <br />Councilmember Dahl indicated her husband and two sons attend the Sno-Barons snowmobile events <br />regularly and are extremely impressed by the events. <br />
