COUNCIL MINUTES MAY 28, 2002 <br />Councilmember Carlson asked if the City will also be able to handle the water demand for the <br />commercial development on the interstate. City Engineer Studenski stated the pump is a localized <br />improvement and will only serve residential homes in the area. <br />Community Development Director Grochala stated there is already plenty of water volume in that <br />area. More pressure is needed in those particular water lines. <br />Councilmember Reinert stated the pumphouse was constructed in 1997 and the City knew how many <br />homes there were going to be in that area. He stated that he believes this is an oversight and now the <br />City has to correct the problem. <br />City Engineer Studenski stated the City has provided adequate pressure in the lines. The City is <br />however, seeing more demand for water in this are during the summer months. The City has received <br />complaints about the water pressure in this area. Councilmember Reinert <br />seconded the motion. <br />Councilmember Carlson stated the • s h . new staff that has had to address some old issues. <br />She commended staff on their ability s .1 with the old issues and thanked them for their efforts. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />Resolution No. 02 — 47 can be f d in the City Clerk's office. <br />Consideration of Resolution No. 02 — 48, Receive Bids and Award Construction Contract, 2002 <br />Sealcoat Program, Jim Studenski — City Engineer Studenski stated sealed bids were received and <br />publicly opened at 10:00 a.m. on May 21, 2002. The results of the bid opening are listed in the staff <br />report. City Council action is required to award a construction contract to the lowest responsible <br />bidder. <br />The low bid from Allied Blacktop in the amount of $86,277.30 is approximately 22% before the <br />Engineer's Estimate for this project. Roadways in the project include both new streets that were <br />paved about 2 or 3 years ago, and other city streets on a 5 to 7 year cycle.
