COUNCIL MINUTES MAY 28, 2002 <br />Fire Chief Bennett stated the VFW Auxiliary presented the various departments with awards but they <br />are a major contributor to events that happen in the City. He thanked the VFW Auxiliary for all their <br />help and support. <br />Chief Pecchia stated the VFW Auxiliary has made donations that help with safety equipment, safety <br />camp and the citizen's academy. <br />Mr. Ron Stranz, 575 Marshan Lane, came forward and stated he is a neighbor to the City Hall <br />complex and lives behind the hole that was dug for drainage adjacent to the building. He indicated <br />that when he originally viewed the hole it was 15-20 feet from his drainage system. Shortly after that <br />another culvert was constructed. Saturation is a problem and every year the problem gets worse. He <br />stated he had water in his basement and will possibly have sewage in his home. He stated he has to <br />monitor all uses of water in his home. He indicated he is trying to be a good neighbor but if any more <br />blacktop goes in this area there is going to be a huge problem. asked what the City is going to do <br />about this problem. <br />Mayor Bergeson stated the City wants to be a good neighboro staff will contact him <br />regarding this issue as soon as possible. <br />Mr. Stranz stated another neighbor in the area is also sa. ' to have problem. The audito ew financial transactions and the financial reports of the <br />City over the previous year ai ■ '''n presentation and for full disclosure of all material <br />aspects of the City's financia e drt n. is review is conducted in accordance with generally <br />accepted auditing standards an e standards applicable to financial audits contained in Government <br />Auditing Standards, issued by thComptroller General of the United States. The auditors concluded <br />that the City's financial statements for 2001 presented fairly, in all material respects, the financial <br />position of the City as of December 31, 2001. The auditors also issued their reports on the City's <br />legal compliance with certain laws, regulations, contracts, internal control structure, and management <br />issues. <br />It should be noted that the City has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in <br />Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and <br />Canada for its last five Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports. Staff believes the report issued for <br />2001 will also qualify for this prestigious award. <br />
