COUNCIL MINUTES JULY 8, 2002 <br />OPEN MIKE <br />Senator Jane Krentz stated she appreciated this opportunity to appear before the Lino Lakes City <br />Council. She stated she has had the privilege of representing Lino Lakes for 10 years and, with the <br />recent redistricting, she will continue to represent the northern portion of the City, if reelected. She <br />indicated she brought with her this evening a copy of the Legislative survey that had received over <br />2000 responses. <br />Senator Krentz stated this last Legislative session had been very difficult, having to deal with a 2.4 <br />billion dollar deficit. She indicated some decisions had been put off until the next session, which will <br />make for more difficult decisions in the future. She noted a five -cent gas tax increase had been <br />proposed to address the budget short fall, which she had supported, but this increase had been voted <br />down. <br />Councilmember Carlson requested confirmation that Senator Kr <br />entire City of Lino Lakes until after the next election and the sw <br />Krentz stated this was correct and she hoped to be reelected <br />northern portion of the City. <br />Councilmember Carlson noted ongoing environment <br />of the City and questioned whether Senator Krentz <br />from those residents in the future. During the last City : uncil work session, the Council spent several hours reviewing the <br />proposed Plan and had requeste .. number of revisions. City staff is currently in the process of <br />reviewing and implementing those revisions. <br />City Administrator Waite Smith advised City staff recommends continuing the public hearing on the <br />Five -Year Financial Plan to the Monday, August 12, 2002 regular City Council meeting. <br />Councilmember Reinert moved to continue the public hearing on the Proposed Five -Year Financial <br />Plan to the Monday, August 12, 2002, City Council meeting. Councilmember Dahl seconded the <br />motion. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />
