After doing some research of ordinances and zoning for this area, we found a map in the Lino
Lakes 2030 Comprehensive Plan. This map showed a print date of April 2008 and listed the
existing land use as of 2006, and shows the two properties noted as "rural residential", but newer
maps show this area now listed as "RI — Low Density Residential".
All properties in this area and on the south side of Highway 23 are shown on the 2008 map (from
the seaplane base to just before Trapper's Restaurant) as being colored light yellow or rural
residential per the map legend. This map is attached to this document (see page 3-9).
Finally, we have talked with a majority of the local home owners in our area about this issue.
Each of the home owners we talked with have verbally agreed to sign a petition to ask for
rezoning of this area.
The animals have not been a nuisance to our neighbors, and in fact, quite the opposite has
happened. The neighbors and many members of our community have enjoyed stopping by with
their children/grandchildren to enjoy them. It has been a positive experience all around for our
family and others in the community.
We hope to be able to continue for the next seven to eight years housing the horses and goats as
we pursue the development and expansion of our children, as well as their sense of
responsibilities and accountability as they continue in their growth in the 4H experience.
