CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION AUGUST 9, 2004 <br />APPROVED <br />• 12 CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />3 WORK SESSION MINUTES <br />4 PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD INTERVIEWS <br />5 <br />6 DATE : August 9, 2004 <br />7 TIME STARTED : 5:38 P.M. <br />8 TIME ENDED : 6:15 P.M. <br />9 MEMBERS PRESENT : Councilmembers Carlson, Dahl, Reinert, Stoltz and <br />10 Mayor Bergeson <br />11 MEMBERS ABSENT : None <br />12 <br />13 Staff members present: City Clerk, Ann Blair (part). <br />14 <br />15 AGENDA <br />16 <br />17 Mayor Bergeson called the special work session meeting to order at 5:38 p.m., indicating the purpose <br />18 of the meeting was to interview candidates for the opening on the Planning and Zoning Board. Three <br />19 candidates were scheduled for interviews: Julie Jeffrey -Schwartz, Perry Laden, and Dave Thomas. <br />20 <br />21 Mayor Bergeson stated that applicant Schwartz, who was scheduled for the first interview at 5:30 <br />22 p.m., was unable to attend this evening. He indicated it was possible the decision would then be <br />23 delayed in an effort to re -schedule this interview before making a decision. <br />•24 <br />25 Mayor Bergeson explained that interview questions had been prepared and each of the <br />26 Councilmembers received a copy. They would be asking questions in turn, and using the same <br />27 format for each candidate. <br />28 <br />29 The Councilmembers interviewed applicant Perry Laden, asking him the prepared questions. <br />30 Following his interview, Mr. Laden left the room, and applicant Dave Thomas was then interviewed, <br />31 using the same process. Following the two interviews, the Council discussed the applicants and the <br />32 process. <br />33 <br />34 The Councilmembers reached a consensus to direct Staff to attempt to re -schedule applicant <br />35 Schwartz' interview for Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at 5:30 p.m., at the start of their next work <br />36 session meeting. Their goal was to have an applicant selected in time to take action at the August 23, <br />37 2004 Council meeting. <br />38 <br />39 There was no further business.
