He
advised the public service employees started at 4:00 a.m., using four snowplows and seven one -ton
pickups, and are usually able to complete the task in eight to ten hours. He noted that because of the
unusually large amount of snow, it took approximately fourteen hours, therefore some parts of the
city were not completed until 5:00 or 6:00 p.m. He added that three of the employees were not
available on Saturday, which added to the delay.
•25
OPEN MIKE

There was none.

SETTING THE AGENDA

The agenda was approved as presented.

WELCOME TO SENATOR MADY REITER

Senator Reiter stated it was a pleasure to be here before the Council. She indicated she is on the traffic committee, which has a project in Lino Lakes for the
Lake Drive / 35W intersection, and there is now a bill and a bill number assigned to that project.

Senator Reiter noted she loves the Lino Lakes area and is pleased to represent them, as well as Circle
Pines and Lexington. She stated the Legislature will be looking at extending the deer hunting season
for 15 additional days, and also looking at several road projects and numerous environmental issues.
She indicated today was bonding day at the Legislature, with a bond proposed at $975,000,000,
which was $200,000,000 more than the Governor wanted to see. She stated the Governor's bond
should set the pace for the rest of the session. She noted that they are looking for money for
education, hoping for about $100 more per student. She stated the pace this year has outpaced any
session she has previously been involved in, and this is her fifth year in the Legislature.
