APPROVED
CITY OF LINO LAKES
‘111r2 MINUTES

DATE : November 14, 2005
TIME STARTED : 6:35 P.M.
TIME ENDED : 7:17 P.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT : Councilmembers Carlson, Dahl, Reinert, Stoltz
and Mayor Bergeson
MEMBERS ABSENT : None

Staff members present: City Administrator, Gordon Heitke; Community Development Director,
Michael Grochala; Economic Development Coordinator, Mary Divine; and City Attorney, Bill
Hawkins.

OPEN MIKE

Ron Holch, 6599 Hokah Drive, presented and read a resolution regarding a referendum for a proposed
sales tax increase for the Vikings stadium. He requested the resolution be placed on the November 22
Work Session agenda as well as on the November 28 City Council meeting agenda. He noted
wording was taken from the Centerville City Council approved resolution.

Councilmember Carlson asked if there have been exemptions from the law. Mr. Holch replied he did
lip 24 not believe so.

Councilmember Reinert stated the proposed tax is a sales tax, so not necessarily a taxpayer; therefore,
the definition of the dollar amount paid by taxpayers seems inaccurate. Mr. Holch replied the bill
references other fees, however, nobody knows what taxes will be written into the bill.

Mayor Bergeson stated if Council has no objections, the resolution will be put on the November 22
Work Session agenda, and at that time it will be decided whether it comes to City Council. He added
Mr. Holch is welcome to attend and present at the Work Session.

Councilmember Dahl asked if any other City besides Centerville has passed this type of resolution.
Mr. Holch replied not that he is aware of; however, many cities are looking into the issue.

Councilmember Reinert requested the City Attorney review the issue and provide comment before the
November 22 Work Session.

Mayor Bergeson asked if Council has any objections to add the resolution to the November 22 Work
Session and hearing no objections, noted it would be added.

SETTING THE AGENDA

io45 Mayor Bergeson stated item 6A has been removed.
