Councilmember Reinert introduced the following resolution and • moved its adoption: CITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 01-74 RESOLUTION CALLING FOR PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING GRANTING A TAX ABATEMENT FOR THE MARKETPLACE DEVELOPMENT AREA AND AUTHORIZING STAFF TO DRAFT A TAX ABATEMENT RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, Sections 469.1812 through 469.1815 (the "Statutes"); gives the governing body of a political subdivision authority to grant an abatement of the taxes imposed by the political subdivision on a parcel of property; WHEREAS, The governing body of a political subdivision may grant an abatement only by adopting an abatement resolution specifying the terms of the abatement and the nature and extent of the public benefits which the governing body expects to result from the agreement; WHEREAS, the Statutes require that a public hearing be held pursuant to the adoption • of an abatement; • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes, Minnesota as follows: 1. The city clerk -treasurer is authorized and directed to prepare a notice for publication in the official newspaper setting a public hearing before the city council to consider this matter on Monday, July 23, 2001 at 6:30 p.m. in the council chambers at city hall. The notice shall be published in the newspaper at least 10 but not more than 30 days prior to the public hearing. 2. The city staff and consultants are authorized and directed to draft a Tax Abatement Resolution and take any and all other actions necessary to bring this matter before the city council at the time of the public hearing.
