CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 6D <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Diane Hankee <br />MEETING DATE: February 23, 2015 <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 15-17, Approving Plans <br />and Specifications and Authorizing the <br />Advertisement for Bid, Birch/Centerville Road <br />Street and Trunk Utility Improvements <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />INTRODUCTION <br />Staff is requesting council approval of the plans and specifications and authorization to advertise <br />for bids, for the Birch Street & Centerville Road Street and Trunk Utility Improvement Project. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City is proposing to extend trunk sanitary sewer from Sherman Lake Road, install sanitary <br />sewer and water main laterals and construct 2 turn lanes and a bypass lane to service the City <br />property located at the southeast corner of the Birch Street and Centerville Road intersection. <br />The improvements will initially service the proposed Fire Station, but will also service future <br />recreational and public works improvements on the site, as well as abutting undeveloped <br />property west of Centerville Road. <br />The estimated construction cost is $542,780. The estimated schedule for this project is as follows: <br />City Open Bids <br />City Council Awards Contract <br />Construction Begins <br />Final Completion <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />April 2, 2015 <br />April 13, 2015 <br />April 27, 2015 <br />August 31, 2015 <br />Staff recommends adoption of Resolution 15-17 Approving the Plans and Specifications and <br />Authorizing the Advertisement for Bid, Birch/Centerville Road Street and Trunk Utility <br />Improvements. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />1.
