COUNCIL MINUTES January 26, 2015
APPROVED
46 FINANCE DEPARTMENT REPORT, AL ROLEK
47
48 2A) Consider Approval to Purchase a Ricoh MP 6002SP Copier- Finance Director Rolek
49 explained that the city's current copier was purchased nine years ago and due to its age maintenance
50 costs are rising significantly. Staff has researched options for replacing the copier and is now
51 recommending purchase of a new unit. He reviewed the benefit to the city of purchasing as opposed
52 to leasing this equipment. The purchase, if approved, would include continuance of a maintenance
53 agreement.
54
55 Mayor Reinert noted that the council has reviewed this matter at their work session and concur that a
56 purchase is appropriate at this time.
57
58 Mr. Rolek added that the equipment is purchased through the state's contract which has been bid.
59
60 Council Member Roeser moved to approve the copier purchase as requested by staff. Council
61 Member Kusterman seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote.
62
63 ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT REPORT, DAN TESCH
64
65 3A) Cable Television Franchise Ordinance Amendment
66 i. Consider 211 Reading of Ordinance No. 01-15, Approving Cable Television
67 Franchise Ordinance Amendment;
68 ii. Consider Resolution No. 15-10, Summary of Ordinance No. 01-15 for Publication
69
70 City Administrator Karlson explained that the ordinance would extend the city's franchise to year
71 2020 with stipulations. The stipulations include an update to the PEG channels and he feels this is
72 favorable to the city.
73
74 Council Member Roeser noted the subject of exclusivity that is not changed by the ordinance — there
75 is not exclusivity now and there will not be under the franchise extension. Administrator Karlson
76 concurred — another provider could come in to the city if they wish. Mayor Reinert noted that he
77 supports completion and improvement to the system; in fact, he suggests that the city may want to
78 invite other companies to enter discussions. The ordinance was reviewed and approved for first
79 reading two weeks ago.
80
81 Council Member Roeser moved to waive the full reading of Ordinance No. 01-15. Council Member
82 Kusterman seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote.
83
84 Council Member Roeser moved to approve the 2t,d Reading and passage of Ordinance No. 01-15 as
85 presented. Council Member Kusterman seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote.
86
87 Council Member Roeser moved to approve Resolution No. 15-10 as presented. Council Member
88 Kusterman seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote.
89
90 PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT REPORT, RICK DEGARDNER
2
