CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 3A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Jeff Karlson <br />MEETING DATE: March 23, 2015 <br />TOPIC: Labor Agreement with Sergeants Unit, LELS Local No. 260 <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The Council is being asked to consider approval of a collective bargaining agreement between <br />the City and Law Enforcement Labor Services (LELS) Local No. 260, which represents the <br />police sergeants. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Representatives from the City and LELS participated in a mediation session through the <br />Bureau of Mediation Services on March 10, 2015. Following two hours of negotiations, the <br />two sides reached a tentative one-year agreement, which the sergeants voted to approve on <br />March 13. The sergeants agreed to the following terms: <br />1. WAGES: Two percent plus 1.5% market adjustment retroactive to January 1, 2015. <br />2. HEALTH INSURANCE: Article 17.1 revised to read: <br />a) Effective January 1, 2015, Employer will contribute $423.44 toward the monthly <br />premium for single coverage and $981.18 toward the monthly premium for family <br />coverage. <br />b) The Employer's contribution for the Health Savings Account (HSA) toward the annual <br />deductibles is $1,000 for single coverage and $2,500 for family coverage. <br />c) The cash option for waiving health insurance coverage is $300. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Authorize execution of 2015 labor agreement between the City of Lino Lakes and LELS <br />Local No. 260. <br />
