STAFF ORIGINATOR <br />MEETING DATE <br />TOPIC: <br />VOTE REQUIRED <br />INTRODUCTION <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 4A <br />John Swenson, Public Safety Director <br />May 26, 2015 <br />Hiring of One Police Officer <br />3/5 <br />The Lino Lakes Public Safety Department is requesting council approval to hire one police <br />officer. <br />BACKGROUND <br />With recent resignations the Police Division is currently staffed with 23 police personnel. <br />The Public Safety Department has been engaged in a police officer hiring process to fill these <br />vacancies. This hiring process included: <br />I. Application/Experience Scoring <br />2. Written Exercise Scoring <br />3. Initial Oral Interview / Physical Fitness Testing <br />4. Supervisor Oral Interview <br />5. Background Investigation <br />6. Medical Examination <br />7. Psychological Examination <br />This hiring process has been extensive and has identified officer candidates that will continue <br />the proud tradition of providing high quality public safety services. <br />The 2015 Approved Budget is funded for 25 sworn positions. The hiring of Shane Werneke as <br />an officer will bring the police division to 24 sworn staff. Approval of this request will not <br />result in an increase to personnel cost for the police division. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends the Council approve the hiring of Shane Werneke as a Police Officer <br />effective June 11, 2015. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />None <br />
