CARD !!
Additional Features of the Minnesota ID Cards
• Rough front, smooth on back.
• A retroreflective virtual image of a row of loons appears to "float" above the front of the MN I.D.
when you tilt the I.D. back and forth.
• Under ultra -violet light, a holographic image of the state seal "glows" in blue and green and is much
larger than the blue state seal on the front.
• Under a magnifying glass you can see "micro -print" in these areas:
o On the front: near the top in the diagonal blue lines;
o On the back: the reddish horizon and outline of the state.
• The license number under the photo has several security features:
o If you add the first 3 digits it will equal the last two digits.
o If you transpose the 3rd and 4th digit, the resulting number will equal that letter of the alphabet
which is the letter that begins the license number. (i.e. 01 = A, 02 = B, 10 = J, etc.)
• Under "Restrictions" on the back side, if you see an alcohol restriction you may choose not to serve
based on your company policy.
Compliance Checks
A compliance check can occur at any time during business hours. A compliance check occurs when an
underage "operative" working with local law enforcement attempts to buy alcohol in the bar, restaurant or
liquor store. There are 3 approaches:
1. The underage operative will not have an I.D.;
2. The underage operative will show their own underage I.D.;
3. The underage operative attempts to have an over -21 patron purchase for the underage operative.
(Remember, multiple drinks always mean multiple I.D.'s!!)
Several states have gone to a vertical format for under -21 identification cards.
Forty-four (44) states
have gone to a
vertical format for
under -21 I.D. cards.
This includes
bordering states
Wisconsin, North
Dakota and Iowa. As
of 2011, Minnesota
has yet to adopt this
feature. To the right
are under -21 I.D.s
from Wisconsin,
North Dakota and
Iowa.
a*- WISCONSIN -
DRIVER LICENSE e,aular
0333-3333-2333-00
BORN
°.40R
JANE QUINCY
SAMPLE WISCONSIN DRIVER
12345 NORTH LAKE WISCONSIN PARKWAY
SUITE 266
BLACK RIVER FALLS WI 54615-0000
ABC.
