CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14-50 <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING THE INCORPORATION OF <br />FIRE SERVICES IN THE PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT <br />WHEREAS, Springsted, Inc. performed an analysis of service delivery options for a municipal <br />fire department; and <br />WHEREAS, Springsted identified six options for providing fire service to the Lino Lakes <br />community; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the options and has determined that incorporating <br />fire operations into the Public Safety Department is the preferred option; and <br />WHEREAS, the Council agrees that the City should move forward with Phase II of Springsted's <br />Fire Department Analysis. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes that <br />staff is authorized to begin the process of incorporating fire operations into the Public Safety <br />Department, which will include the following components: <br />1. Contracting with an architectural firm to begin the process of site location and building <br />design for the new fire station. <br />2. Procuring the services of Springsted and other consultants, as deemed necessary, to assist <br />the City in developing a business model that includes capital, staffing and personnel, <br />operational and facility needs. <br />3. Recruiting and training new fire personnel. <br />4. Developing a comprehensive phasing plan that addresses all aspects of the analysis. <br />5. Creating job descriptions for new public safety positions, conducting a compensation <br />study, and hiring public safety personnel. <br />6. Establishing a fire relief pension fund to attract new recruits and current CFD personnel. <br />Adopted by the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes this 2nd day of June 2014. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was introduced by Council Member <br />Kusterman and was duly seconded by Council Member Stoesz and upon <br />vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />Kusterman, Stoesz, Rafferty, Reinert <br />The following voted against same: <br />(Absent - Roeser) <br />ATTEST: <br />Jai ' e Bartell, Ci Cle <br />
