STAFF ORIGINATOR: <br />MEETING DATE: <br />TOPIC: <br />VOTE REQUIRED: <br />INTRODUCTION <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 6E <br />Michael Grochala <br />July 14, 2014 <br />Consider Resolution No. 14-72, Approving Plans & <br />Specifications and Authorizing Solicitation for <br />Quotes, 2014 Surface Water Management Project <br />Simple Majority <br />Staff is requesting council approval of plans and specifications and authorization to solicit quotes <br />for the 2014 Surface Water Management Project. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City operates a storm water conveyance system to manage water runoff and water quality <br />from City streets and neighborhoods. To maintain the effectiveness of the system, cleaning and <br />repair of pipe sections. catch basins, manholes, drainage ways and ponds must be completed. <br />City staff conducts annual reviews of the system components as required by the City's National <br />Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit. Project priorities are determined <br />following completion of the inspection process and evaluation of resident issues identified <br />during the year. This year's project will include improvements to the recently discussed Linda <br />Avenue and Laurene Avenue area. <br />The proposed project budget for 2014 is $125.000. Funding for the engineering and the <br />maintenance contract is included in the 2014 Public Services — Streets budget. <br />The estimated schedule for this project is as follows: <br />City Council Authorizes Plans and Specifications <br />City Council Approves Plans and Specifications <br />City Council Authorizes Ad for Bids <br />City Open Bids <br />City Council Awards Contract <br />Construction Begins <br />May 27. 2014 <br />July 14, 2014 <br />July 14, 2014 <br />August 5, 2014 <br />August 11. 2014 <br />
