STAFF ORIGINATOR: <br />MEETING DATE: <br />TOPIC: <br />VOTE REQUIRED: <br />INTRODUCTION <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 6A <br />Michael Grochala <br />July 14, 2014 <br />Consider Resolution No. 14-73, Authorizing <br />Professional Services Agreement with CNH <br />Architects, Fire House No. 2 <br />Simple Majority <br />Staff is requesting council authorization to enter into a professional services agreement with <br />CNH Architects for the Site Selection, Design and Construction Administration of Fire House <br />No. 2. <br />BACKGROUND <br />On June 2, 2014, the City Council approved Resolution No. 14-50 which, in part, directed staff <br />to solicit proposals for architectural and engineering services for the construction of Fire House <br />No. 2. A Request for Qualifications (RFQ) was answered by five (5) firms of which three (3) <br />were selected to submit detailed proposals. Proposals were submitted by the following firms on <br />June 30, 2014: <br />• BKV Group <br />• CNH Architects <br />• SEH, Inc. <br />Presentation were held on the afternoon of June 30, 2014 by the review committee which <br />included Council Member Rafferty, City Administrator, Public Safety Director, Community <br />Development Director and two representatives from the New Brighton Public Safety <br />Department. Review criteria included: <br />1. Previous experience with design of Fire Stations; <br />2. Knowledge and understanding of the scope of work; <br />3. Availability of the firm and proposed project schedule; and <br />4. Cost of services. <br />Based on this review process the review committee is recommending CNH Architects be <br />retained as the architect for the project.
