15t Reading: 9/10/2007 <br />Published: 10/2/2007 <br />2nd Reading: 9/24/2007 <br />Effective: 11/2/2007 <br />To County Rec rae : <br />Council Member Carlson moved for adoption of the following ordinance: <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />ORDINANCE NO. 12-07 <br />AMENDING THE CITY CODE BY ADDING A NEW CHAPTER 509 <br />RELATED TO ULTIMATE FIGHTING <br />The City Council of The City of Lino Lakes do ordain as follows: <br />Section 1. That the Lino Lakes Code of Ordinances be amended by adding thereto a <br />new Chapter 509 to read as follows: <br />CHAPTER 509. ULTIMATE FIGHTING <br />509.01 DEFINITION AND PURPOSE <br />Ultimate fighting is any activity, regardless of how named or described, or any form of <br />entertainment, where the primary practice involves individuals engaged in physical contact by <br />striking an opponent with hands, head, feet or body. This shall include, but not be limited to, <br />any contest where kicking, punching, martial arts, or submission holds are permitted. The <br />City Council finds that the practice of ultimate fighting is dangerous and puts individuals and <br />the public health, safety and welfare at great risk. <br />509.02 PROHIBITED CONDUCT <br />It shall be unlawful in any public or private building or place to organize, permit, be <br />present at, or to participate in the practice of ultimate fighting. Officially sanctioned and <br />regulated boxing, martial arts, wrestling and team sports in which physical contact is <br />incidental to the primary purpose of the game such as hockey, basketball, volleyball, soccer, <br />baseball and softball, are not included among activities pro_bited by this section. <br />Attest: Julianne Barte , Ci Clerk <br />B ges <br />n, Mayor <br />Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council this24tnday of Sept , 2007. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing ordinance was duly seconded by Council <br />Member Stoltz and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />Carlson, Stoltz, O'Donnell, Reinert, Bergeson <br />The following voted against same: <br />none <br />Whereupon said ordinance was declared duly passed and adopted. <br />1 <br />
