CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />COUNTY OF ANOKA <br />ORDINANCE NO. 05-05 <br />AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 12-97 <br />AN ORDINANCE REGULATING SIGNS IN THE CITY OF LINO LAKES, <br />ANOKA COUNTY, MINNESOTA. <br />The City Council of the City of Lino Lakes ordains that Ordinance No. 12-97 is amended <br />as follows: <br />SECTION I. PURPOSE AND INTENT <br />The purpose of this ordinance is to establish a set of standards for fabrication, <br />erection and use of signs, symbols, markings, or advertising devices within the <br />City. These standards are designed to protect and promote the general welfare, <br />health and safety of persons within the community and to aid and assist in the <br />development and promotion of business and industry by providing regulations <br />which allow and encourage creativity, effectiveness and flexibility in the design <br />and use of such devices. <br />SECTION II. DEFINITIONS: <br />A. Commercial Use: Activity carried out for monetary gain. <br />B. Conditional Use: A land use or development that may not be appropriate generally <br />within a certain district but may be allowed in that district with appropriate <br />restrictions, conditions or limitations as imposed by the City Council. <br />C. Conditional Use Permit: A permit issued by the City Council in accordance with <br />the procedures specified within this Ordinance as a device to enable the City <br />Council to assign conditions to a proposed use or development after consideration <br />of the adjacent land uses and the special characteristics which the proposed use <br />presents. <br />D. Permitted Use: Any use allowed in a zoning district and subject to the restrictions <br />applicable to that zoning district. <br />E. Sian: The tern "Sign" shall mean a name, identification, description, display, <br />illustration structure or device which is affixed to. or painted on, or represented <br />directly or indirectly upon a building or other outdoor surface or piece of land, and <br />Ordinance 05-05, Sign Ordinance pace 1 of 30 <br />-48- <br />
