Council Member Neal introduced the following ordinance and moved its <br />adoption: <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />COUNTY OF ANOKA <br />ORDINANCE NO. 04-98 <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD, <br />CHAPTER 217 OF THE LINO LAKES CITY CODE <br />The City Council of the City of Lino Lakes hereby ordains as follows: <br />Chapter 217, Environmental Board is hereby established as follows: <br />217. Environmental Board <br />217.01 Purpose. The purpose of this chapter is to provide aid and advice <br />to the council in its efforts to encourage productive and enjoyable harmony between people <br />and their environment; to promote efforts which will prevent or eliminate damage to the <br />environment and stimulate the health and welfare of people; to enrich the understanding of <br />the ecological systems and natural resources important to the city; to advise the City in the <br />use and management of its natural resources in order to preserve and enhance the <br />environmental amenities for present and future residents, and to improve and insure a <br />lasting quality of life within the city. <br />217.02 Establishment. The Lino Lakes Board on Environment, <br />hereinafter referred to as the Board, is hereby established. The Board shall operate in <br />accordance with Chapter 210. <br />Membership of the Environmental Board shall consist of seven (7) members who shall be <br />appointed by the Mayor with City Council approval, for three (3) year terms commencing <br />on January 1st. Terms shall be staggered so that no more than one-half of the members' <br />tennis expire at one time. Both the original and successive appointee shall hold their <br />respective offices until their successors are appointed and qualified. Vacancies during the <br />term shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointments are made for the <br />unexpired portion of the term vacated. Every appointed member shall before entering <br />upon the discharge of his duties, have taken an oath that he will faithfully discharge the <br />duties of his office. <br />Page 1 <br />
