Council Member Bohjanen introduced the following <br />ordinance and moved its adoption: <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />COUNTY OF ANOKA <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />ORDINANCE NO. 14 - 91 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 402 OF THE LINO LAKES CITY CODE BY <br />REQUIRING THE INSTALLATION OF SUMP PUMPS AND REGULATING THE <br />DISCHARGE OF SURFACE WATERS AND DRAINTILE INSTALLATION <br />I. <br />The City Council of the City of Lino Lakes, Anoka County, Minnesota <br />does ordain: <br />Section 402.08 Discharge of Surface Waters Prohibited. is hereby <br />deleted. <br />II. <br />Section 402.08 Sump Pumps Required, Discharge of Surface Waters <br />Prohibited is added and reads as follows: <br />Subdivision 1. Sump Pump Systems Required. Sump pump systems <br />shall be installed in new residential buildings. <br />Subd. 2. Storm Water Discharges Prohibited. It shall be <br />unlawful for any owner, occupant or user of any premises to direct <br />into or allow any storm water, surface water, ground water, well <br />water or water from industrial or commercial air conditioning <br />systems to drain into the sanitary sewer system of the City. No <br />rain spout, or other form of surface drainage and no foundation <br />drainage or sump pump shall be connected or discharged into any <br />sanitary sewer. <br />Subd. 3. Draintile System. A draintile, sump basket, pump, <br />electrical receptacle and rigid pipe connection to the outside <br />shall be required for any new residential buildings constructed <br />within the City. The building official may determine the need for <br />such installation when slab on grade construction occurs. The <br />system shall be installed as follows: <br />(1) The building shall have a draintile placed around the <br />inside perimeter of the foundation connected to a sump <br />pit. The sump pit shall be located at least ten (10) <br />feet away from any inside floor drain. <br />(2) A discharge pipe shall be installed to the outside wall <br />of the building with rigid pipe (plastic, copper, <br />galvanized or black pipe) three -fourths -inch inside <br />
