Memorandum
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council
From: Randy Schumacher, City Administrator
Date: July 22, 1987
RE: Building Standards/Pole Buildings
Please find attached a copy of Planning Consultant John
Miller's letter regarding building standards, more
specifically the issue of pole buildings.
Mr. Miller has listed 8 options for your consideration. Mr.
Miller has recommended that no pole buildings be permitted
other than in areas of 10 acres and larger, i.e. for rural
use.
I would recommend we combine or take portions of #2,3,5.
This would constitue pole buildings only in industrial areas
with a Conditional Use Permit. Conditional Use Permits
could only be issued if the use were for Boat Sales, Lumber
Yards, or Bus Garages.
As the Ordinance relates to existing pole buildings, they
would be allowed to expand given the upgrading of their
building i.e., adding ammenities such as landscaping and
front facade improvements.
If you should have any questions with regards to this memo,
or that of Mr. Millers, please do not hesitate to contact my
office.
•
