• SECTION II. DEFINITIONS: <br />• <br />• <br />The following words and terms, when used in this Sign Ordinance, shall have the <br />following meanings, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise: <br />Advertising Sign: An "Advertising Sign" is a sign which directs attention to a business, <br />commodity, service or entertainment not exclusively related to the premises where such a <br />sign is located or to which it is affixed. <br />Area Identification Sign: A ground sign which identifies the <br />name of neighborhood, a residential subdivision, a multiple residential complex, or a <br />commercial or industrial complex consisting of three or more businesses. <br />Banner: A temporary sign made of cloth, flexible plastic, or other fabric. National flags, <br />state or municipal flags, or the official flags of any institutions or businesses shall not be <br />considered banners. <br />Business Sign: A "Business Sigri" i:, any sign which identifies a business or group of <br />businesses, either retail or wholesale, or any sign which identifies a profession or is used in <br />the identification or promotion of anv principal commodity or service, including <br />Commercial Speech: Speech advertising a business, profession, commodity, service or <br />entertainment. <br />A. Commercial Use: Activity carried out for monetary gain. <br />B. Conditional Usc: A land use or development that may not be appropriate generally <br />within a certain district but may be allowed in that district with appropriate <br />C. Conditional Use Permit: A permit issued by the City Council in accordance with <br />Council to assign conditions to a proposed use or development after consideration <br />presents. <br />Construction Sign: A temporary sign identifying a building or construction site, <br />architects, engineers, contractors or suppliers. <br />Directional Signs: A sign <br />- - - - = providing general directional <br />information about the use or uses such as name and address within the development where <br />the sign is located. <br />Ordinance 04-08, Sign Ordinance page 3 of 29 <br />
