COUNCIL MINUTES OCTOBER 13, 2003 <br />APPROVED <br />49 <br />•50 Mayor Bergeson indicated they had two Community Service Awards to present. He stated the first <br />51 was Ed Hemauer, from Ivy Ridge Lane. He indicated for several years Mr. Hemauer has walked <br />52 several miles a day picking up trash. He is out there almost every day, and has been for the last seven <br />53 years. He stated Mr. Hemauer was nominated by the residents of Winsell Farms Townhouse <br />54 Community for the Good Citizenship Award. <br />55 <br />56 Mayor Bergeson indicated that the second award is for Mr. Roger Jensen, who recently passed away. <br />57 He stated two family members are here to accept his award. Mr. Jensen is being honored for his <br />58 many years of volunteer service to the City, including participation on several boards and <br />59 commissions. <br />60 <br />61 B. Proclamation Declaring October "Crime Prevention Month" 2003, Police Chief Dave <br />62 Pecchia. <br />63 <br />64 Police Chief Dave Pecchia noted the agenda was long and he would not read the proclamation, but <br />65 thanked the citizens and City Council for making Lino Lakes one of the safest cities to live in. <br />66 <br />67 FINANCE DEPARTMENT REPORT, AL ROLEK <br />68 <br />69 There was no report. <br />70 <br />71 ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT REPORT, DAN TESCH <br />.72 <br />73 A. Consider Reappointment of Andy Cardinal to the Rice Creek Watershed District <br />74 (RCWD) <br />75 <br />76 Police Chief Pecchia summarized the Staff report, indicating Mr. Cardinal seeks reappointment to a <br />77 three-year term with the RCWD. <br />78 <br />79 Councilmember Carlson moved to approve the reappointment of Andy Cardinal to the Rice Creek <br />80 Watershed District. Councilmember Dahl seconded the motion. <br />81 <br />82 Motion carried unanimously. <br />83 <br />84 PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT REPORT, DAVE PECCHIA <br />85 <br />86 A. Consider Resolution No. 03-172, Accepting Donation from Vietnam Veterans of America <br />87 Chapter 470 — Anoka Co. <br />88 <br />89 Police Chief Pecchia presented the Staff report, noting the donation would go to defer the cost to <br />90 purchase a Taser for use by the Public Safety Department. <br />91 <br />92 Councilmember O'Donnell moved to adopt Resolution No. 03-172 accepting a donation from <br />93 Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 470 — Anoka County for a taser.
