AGENDA ITEM 7F <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: John Powell, City Engineer <br />COUNCIL MEETING DATE: July 9,2001 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 01 - 95, Approve Plans and Specifications and <br />Order Advertisement for Bids - 2001 Sealcoat Project <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Each year the City maintains its streets by sealcoating. Sealcoating places a <br />thin layer of oil and rock on the street to enhance the surface. Candidate streets <br />include new streets that received the wear course 2 - 3 years ago and all other <br />streets are done on a 5 - 7 year cycle. This year, approximately 7 miles of <br />streets will be sealcoated at an estimated cost of $87,000. The 2001 budget <br />includes $58,850 for sealcoating. It is proposed to fund the difference between <br />the budget amount and the final bid amount from the City's Sealcoat fund. City <br />staff has prepared the plans and specifications for this work and are requesting <br />Council approval to advertise for bids. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Return to staff for further review. <br />2. Adopt Resolution Number 01 - 95, approving the plans and specifications and <br />ordering advertisement for bids for the 2001 sealcoat project. <br />3. Not adopt Resolution No. 01 - 95 <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Option No. 2 - Staff recommends that Resolution Number 01 - 95 be adopted. <br />
