Council Member O'Donnell introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption. <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />RESOLUTION NO. 01-102 <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT ANOKA COUNTY APPROVE A SECOND <br />LAKE DRIVE ACCESS FOR PROPOSED MARKETPLACE DEVELOPMENT <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lino Lakes has created an economic development area known as the <br />Town Center; and <br />WHEREAS, Ryan Companies has submitted a proposal for the Marketplace project which <br />includes a Target Superstore, Kohl's Department Store and other businesses to be built in the <br />Town Center in 2002; and <br />WHEREAS, the Marketplace project will be valued at approximately $24 million at full build- <br />out; and <br />WHEREAS, the Marketplace project will provide services and amenities not currently available <br />in the City of Lino Lakes, will provide employment opportunities within the community, will <br />add to the tax base of the City and the County, and will stimulate development in the rest of the <br />Town Center; and <br />WHEREAS, citizens of Lino Lakes see the Marketplace project as an asset to the City, as <br />evidenced by the unanimous support expressed by the Planning and Zoning Board and the <br />Economic Development Advisory Committee; and <br />WHEREAS, the proposed project will not occur without a second, signalized, full movement <br />access to Lake Drive; and <br />WHEREAS, Anoka County has jurisdiction to grant accesses to Lake Drive; and <br />WHEREAS, the requested second access for the Marketplace project requires an exception to <br />normal County policies; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lino Lakes City Council and the Marketplace developers must decide whether <br />the project is viable by July 23, 2001; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes, to <br />respectfully request that the Anoka County Board of Commissioners make an exception to <br />County policy and grant the second, signalized, full movement access to Lake Drive, as <br />requested by the developer, in order to allow this extremely important project to occur. <br />Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council this 11th day of July, 2001. <br />
