by the Planning & Zoning Board and Council to research an ordinance amendment that would
allow for the keeping of farm animals in residential zoning districts.
The zoning ordinance currently allows for the keeping of farm animals on rural properties
zoned R, Rural or R -X, Rural Executive. Residentially zoned parcels (i.e. R-1, R-2, etc.) do not
allow for the keeping of farm animals. Lot size is not a factor in either case.
The Planning & Zoning Staff Report dated July 8, 2015 details the proposed rezoning. The
Planning & Zoning Board held a public hearing on July 8, 2015. There were four public
comments supporting the rezoning.
RECOMMENDATION
The Planning & Zoning Board and staff recommend approval of the rezoning of 15 parcels
from R-1, Single Family Residential and 2 parcels from R -1X, Single Family Executive
Residential to R, Rural based on the findings detailed in Ordinance No. 07-15.
ATTACHMENTS
1.
