One is to conduct their annual <br />Turkey Bingo on November 22, 2015 with the money raised to be used for the food shelf and the <br />second is a Raffle to be held on November 24, 2015 with the proceeds from this event to be used <br />to award college scholarships to members of St. Joseph Catholic Church. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Non-profit organizations are allowed, under the State Gambling Statutes, to apply for an <br />exemption from a gambling license if they conduct five (5) or fewer gambling occasions per <br />calendar year. St. Joseph Catholic Church conducts five (5) or less per calendar and, therefore, <br />remains exempt from requiring a gambling license. <br />Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 349, Section 349.166, Subd. 2 does, however, require that the non- <br />profit organizations applying for the exemption permit, notify the city that they are applying for <br />the exemption and receive local approval. <br />The application and background materials are on file in City Clerk's office. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt a motion approving the applications for exemption with no waiting period. <br />
