CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 4A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Public Safety Director John Swenson <br />MEETING DATE: October 12, 2015 <br />TOPIC: Prosecution Contract for Services — Geck, Duea & Olson, PPLC <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The law firm of Geck, Duea & Olson has provided prosecution services for the City of Lino <br />Lakes since January 1, 2012. The current contract expires on December 31, 2015. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The law firm of Geck, Duea and Olson has provided prosecution services to the City of Lino <br />Lakes since January 1, 2012. The proposed contract establishes a flat monthly fee of $8,500 <br />per month for all current prosecution services. This rate would remain the same for the <br />duration of the contract, which is 5 years, with no annual fee increases. <br />The proposed monthly fee of $8,500 translates to an annual cost of $102,000. The 2015 <br />Adopted Budget for prosecution services is $105,000 and the 2016 Requested Budget for <br />prosecution services is $105,000. <br />The feedback received from staff and the Anoka County Court personnel has been positive <br />regarding the job performance of the legal staff from Deck, Duea and Olson. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends approval of the prosecution contract renewal with Geck, Duea & Olson, <br />PPLC. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Contract with Geck, Duea & Olson, PPLC <br />
