Council Member O'Donnell introduced the following resolution and moved <br />- its adoption: <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />RESOLUTION NO. 01 - 154 <br />RESOLUTION PROCLAMING CRIME PREVENTION MONTH 2001 <br />WHEREAS, the vitality of our city depends on how safe we keep our <br />homes, neighborhoods, workplaces, and communities because crime and fear <br />diminish the quality of life for all; <br />WHEREAS, crime and fear of crime destroy our trust in others and in <br />institutions, threatening the community's health and prosperity; <br />WHEREAS, people of all ages must be made aware of what they can do <br />to prevent themselves, their families, neighbors, and co-workers from being <br />harmed by drugs, violence, and other crime; <br />WHEREAS, the personal injury, financial loss, and community <br />deterioration resulting from crime are intolerable and require action by <br />the whole community; <br />WHEREAS, crime prevention initiatives must include but go beyond <br />self protection and security to promote collaborative efforts to make <br />neighborhoods safer for all ages and to develop positive educational and <br />recreational opportunities for young people; <br />WHEREAS, adults must invest time, resources, and police support in <br />effective prevention and intervention strategies for youth, and teens must <br />be engaged in driving crime from their communities; <br />WHEREAS, effective crime prevention programs excel because of <br />partnerships among law enforcement, other government agencies, civic <br />groups, schools, faith communities, businesses, and individuals as they <br />help to nurture communal responsibility and instill pride; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, We, the Lino Lakes City Councilmembers, do hereby <br />proclaim October 2001 as Crime Prevention Month in Lino Lakes and urge all <br />citizens, government agencies, public and private institutions, and <br />businesses to recognize the power of preveytion and work together for the <br />common good. <br />John <br />City y Clerk <br />Blaif' <br />rges'on, rlayor <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded <br />by Council Member Reinert and upon vote being taken thereon, the <br />following voted in favor thereof : Dahl, Reinert, Bergeson, Carlson & O'Donnell. <br />rhe following voted against same: None. <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. <br />Se,fievâ–ş4er ,(k ) X l <br />
