CITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 02-14 RESOLUTION APPROVING A SPECIAL ELECTION FOR RECREATION COMPLEX, NEIGHBORHOOD PARK IMPROVEMENTS AND TRAILS REFERENDUM WHEREAS, city staff, members of the park board, residents, and City Council members have considered a possible referendum since 1991 to develop a recreation complex, improve our neighborhood parks, and construct trails. WHEREAS, In March, 1997 the City Council unanimously passed Resolution 97-30 supporting the Park Board's recommendation to pursue a referendum to enhance the leisure opportunities for residents such as trails, neighborhood parks and development of a recreation complex. WHEREAS, in November, 2001, after careful consideration, the City Council authorized staff to move forward with a Spring 2002 referendum. WHEREAS, a "Referendum 2002" Committee was formed to assist city staff and members of the Park Board to address issues related to a Spring 2002 referendum. WHEREAS, the referendum consists of three major components: development of the recreation complex, improvements to 16 neighborhood parks, and the construction of trails. WHEREAS, the "Referendum 2002" Committee and the Park Board have unanimously recommended to the City Council, "That an $8.6 million referendum be placed on the ballot for a special vote on Saturday, April 27, 2002 for the development of the recreation complex, improvements to 16 neighborhood parks, and the construction of trails." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lino Lakes City Council approves that an $8.6 million referendum be placed on the ballot for a special vote on Saturday, April 27, 2002 for the development of the recreation complex, improvements to 16 neighborhood parks, and the construction of trails.
