CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />RESOLUTION NO. 02-14 <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING A SPECIAL ELECTION FOR RECREATION <br />COMPLEX, NEIGHBORHOOD PARK IMPROVEMENTS AND TRAILS <br />REFERENDUM <br />WHEREAS, city staff, members of the park board, residents, and City Council <br />members have considered a possible referendum since 1991 to develop a recreation <br />complex, improve our neighborhood parks, and construct trails. <br />WHEREAS, In March, 1997 the City Council unanimously passed Resolution <br />97-30 supporting the Park Board's recommendation to pursue a referendum to enhance <br />the leisure opportunities for residents such as trails, neighborhood parks and development <br />of a recreation complex. <br />WHEREAS, in November, 2001, after careful consideration, the City Council <br />authorized staff to move forward with a Spring 2002 referendum. <br />WHEREAS, a "Referendum 2002" Committee was formed to assist city staff and <br />members of the Park Board to address issues related to a Spring 2002 referendum. <br />WHEREAS, the referendum consists of three major components: development of <br />the recreation complex, improvements to 16 neighborhood parks, and the construction of <br />trails. <br />WHEREAS, the "Referendum 2002" Committee and the Park Board have <br />unanimously recommended to the City Council, "That an $8.6 million referendum be <br />placed on the ballot for a special vote on Saturday, April 27, 2002 for the development of <br />the recreation complex, improvements to 16 neighborhood parks, and the construction of <br />trails." <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lino Lakes City Council <br />approves that an $8.6 million referendum be placed on the ballot for a special vote on <br />Saturday, April 27, 2002 for the development of the recreation complex, improvements to <br />16 neighborhood parks, and the construction of trails. <br />Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council this llth day of February, 2002. <br />ATTEST: <br />Ann J.
