Blair, City Clerk <br />Date: March 11, 2002 Pvr • a —I 7 <br />Topic: Consider Request from Circle -Lex Lion's Club for <br />a one -day temporary consumption and display <br />permit (set-up license) and temporary 3.2 beer on - <br />sale license for one -day event <br />Votes Required: <br />Background <br />Simple Majority (3/5) <br />Non-profit organizations are allowed, under the State Gambling Statutes, to apply for a <br />temporary license(s) in connection with a social activity occurring within the city and <br />sponsored by the organization. The City may not issue more than 10 such licenses in any <br />one-year period. This is the second request the City has received in 2002. <br />The Circle -Lex Lion's Club has requested a temporary set-up license for an event to be <br />held on April 13, 2002. The fee for such a license is $25.00, which is set by the State. If <br />granted, the permit will allow consumption and display of intoxicating liquor, but does <br />not allow the sale of intoxicating liquor. <br />The Circle -Lex Lion's Club has also requested a temporary 3.2 beer on -sale license for <br />their one -day event. The fee for such a license is $40.00 for a one -day event. If granted, <br />the permit will allow purchase and consumption of 3.2 beer at the event. <br />Approval of this item is recommended, contingent upon completion of the background <br />investigation.
