STAFF ORIGINATOR:
COUNCIL MEETING DATE:
TOPIC:
ACTION REQUIRED:
BACKGROUND:
AGENDA ITEM 7E
Michael Grochala
July 8, 2002
Resolution No. 02-73, Concurrence
with proposed Alignment Alternatives for
the CSAH 8/14 (Main Street)
Reconstruction Project.
Simple Majority
Washington County has received federal funding to reconstruct County State Aid
Highway (CSAH) 8/14 between I -35E in Lino Lakes, Anoka County, and Trunk Highway
61 in Hugo. As part of the project an alternative analysis, studying alignment
alternatives along Main Street connecting with TH 61 was prepared. Four potential
alignments through the City of Hugo were reviewed as part of the process including
140th Street, 142nd Street, 145th Street (the existing alignment), and 147th Street.
At this point Washington County is in the process of preparing an Environmental
Assessment (EA) for the project. This process will involve studying the environmental
impacts of the proposed project including the alignment alternatives. However,
Washington County is recommending that the 140th Street Alignment Alternative be
eliminated from further study because of environmental impacts, right-of-way and
construction costs, and travel patterns.
The City of Hugo passed a resolution on July 1, 2002 concurring with Washington
County's recommendation.
OPTIONS:
1. Return to staff for further review.
2. Adopt Resolution Number 02-73, Concurring with Washington County regarding
proposed CSAH 8/14 Alignment Alternatives.
RECOMMENDATION:
Option No. 2.
ATTACHMENTS
1. Resolution 02-73
