Studenski, City Engineer COUNCIL MEETING DATE: July 22, 2002 TOPIC: Resolution No. 02 - 79, Approving Preparation of Plans and Authorizing Advertisement for Bids for Well No. 4 Booster Pumping Station Vote Required: Simple Majority BACKGROUND: In 1996, Well Pumphouse No. 4 was installed and in 1997, the elevated tank was constructed. A 16" water main trunk connects these infrastructures to the Clearwater Creek subdivision and the rest of the city water system. Over the past years, the service area continues to be connected to and water use continues to increase. The water pressure varies throughout the city with the Clearwater Creek area having the lowest average pressure. The Clearwater Creek area is at some of the highest city ground elevations and average use continues to increase with the new homes that are constructed. The water system will be improved to achieve the typical water pressures that are experienced in the rest of the city. This will be done using a booster pumping station at Well Pumphouse No. 4. This improvement can be easily implemented in this isolated area. The schedule for this project is as follows: City Council Approves Plans and Specifications City Council Authorizes Advertisement for bids Open Bids City Council Awards Contract Construction Begins July 22, 2002 July 22, 2002 August 22, 2002 August 26, 2002 September 2002 OPTIONS: 1. Return to staff for further review. 2. Adopt Resolution Number 02 - 79, approving plans & specifications and authorizing advertisement for bids for Well No. 4 Booster Pumping station. 3. Not adopt Resolution Number 02 — 79. RECOMMENDATION: Option No. 2 - Staff recommends that Resolution Number 02 - 79 be adopted.
