Blair, City Clerk <br />Date: September 9, 2002 <br />Topic: Consider Request from Lino Lakes Lion's Club for <br />a one -day temporary consumption and display <br />permit (set-up license) for one -day event <br />Votes Required: Simple Majority (3/5) <br />Background <br />Non-profit organizations are allowed, under the State Gambling Statutes, to apply for a <br />temporary license(s) in connection with a social activity occurring within the city and <br />sponsored by the organization. The City may not issue more than 10 such licenses in any <br />one-year period. <br />The Lino Lakes Lion's Club has requested a temporary set-up license for an event to be <br />held at St. Joseph's Church on September 28, 2002. The fee for such a license is $25.00, <br />which is set by the State. If granted, the permit will allow consumption and display of <br />intoxicating liquor, but does not allow the sale of intoxicating liquor. <br />The Lino Lakes Lions Club applied for and on August 26, 2002, received from the <br />Council a temporary gambling permit for this event. The Police Depaihuent has <br />performed the necessary background checks for this event, and the organization is in <br />compliance with City Ordinances. <br />Approval of this item is recommended. Resolution No. 02-118 approves the requested <br />temporary license. <br />Options <br />1. Motion to Approve Resolution No. 02-118. <br />2.
