The
results of the bid opening are presented below. City Council action is required to award
a construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder.
Contractor Amount of Bid
North Valley, Inc.
DMJ Corporation
W.B. Miller, Inc.
Midwest Asphalt Corp.
Northwest Asphalt, Inc.
Hardrives, Inc.
Barber Construction Co, Inc.
Frattalone Paving, Inc.
Engineer's Estimate
$121,099.25
$124,876.42
$125,772.75
$131,590.25
$132,087.35
$132,608.75
$138,023.50
$149,640.25
$160,918.50
The low bid is approximately 32% below the Engineer's Estimate for this project. A copy
of the complete bid tabulation is attached. The majority of the difference is a result of a
lower than expected unit price for the bituminous mix. A higher unit price was assumed
based on recent bids in other cities for similar work.
The funding for this work is provided by assessments to the respective subdivisions
included in the project.
The completion date for this project is July 14, 2000.
OPTIONS:
1.
