Council Member O'Donnell introduced the following resolution and moved <br />its adoption: <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />RESOLUTION NO. 00-98 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A TAX RATE INCREASE FOR THE YEAR 2001. <br />WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota has enacted Chapter 243, Laws of Minnesota 1999, <br />Article 6, Section 2 requiring a city council to have adopted and filed an <br />authorizing resolution if its city's tax rate tums out to be higher the following <br />year than a theoretical tax rate for the previous year under the law; and, <br />WHEREAS, according to the formula specified by law, the city anticipates a higher tax <br />rate for the following year; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lino Lakes wishes to be in compliance with the law with an <br />authorizing resolution adopted and filed. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes <br />that the county auditor is authorized to fix a property tax rate for taxes payable in the <br />year 2001 that is higher than the rate calculated pursuant to Minnesota Statutes <br />275.078 for the city for taxes levied in 2000, payable 2001. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that regardless of outside factors impacting tax rates, the <br />City Council of the City of Lino Lakes remains firmly committed to the delivery of <br />mandated and other important services in a manner which results in reasonable and <br />responsible property taxes for the citizens of the city. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that adoption of this resolution does not prohibit the city <br />from certifying a final levy that will result in no tax rate increase or a tax rate reduction. <br />BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that an official copy of this adopted resolution be filed with <br />the Anoka County Auditor. <br />Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council this 9th day of October, 2000. <br />461.08ezaanct <br />Ry-chel Gaustad, Clerk -Treasurer <br />Joh Berg son, Mayor <br />
